I spoke with a wise woman today, what you might call a sage, and I always turn to her for relationship guidance. She has been with her man for a blissful 20 years. In my opinion, she has earned the title of teacher.
My question to her was what is a great relationship? I know everyone has issues and flaws so how do you move through these? Is the answer money? Is it physical attraction?
She said this:
“To obtain a soul-mate type of love, someone who can meet you on a physical, emotional and spiritual plane as an equal, you need a common access point – deep, selfless compassion. You need to be creative in how the two of you adapt, problem-solve, and work together as a team. This is fundamental – this is the core. If you have this and strengthen it then no one can take it away. It will only grow more powerful with each day that passes.”
She also added that you need to make sure you aren’t falling in love with a person’s potential. This is a dangerous trap as a person will never change their essence or true being.
Find this connection and you’ve found your true love.
